Who We Are
Here at First Haitian Church of God we are a family and a fellowship of believers striving to fulfill the will of God. Our passion for the lost souls and the underserved motivates each day in our efforts for the Kingdom of God.
Our Humble beginning began in 1985 with a group of believers who through the conviction of the holy spirit began church services in their homes. They were dedicated to the preaching and teaching of the Word of God and gathering souls for Christ. Over time they grew in number and even more in faith and fellowship. By 1986 this faithful group became affiliated with the mission of Mount Olives Church of God in New Jersey and in the same year purchased a building on the corner of Wilcrest and Boone Loop. By May of 1986 they were inaugurated as Mount Olives Church of God - the very first Haitian Church in Houston. On May 21, 1988, Pastor Bertrand Philippe was the first and only appointed Senior Pastor by the mission of Mount Olives, New Jersey. During this time, there were more than 100 members and the church established a Committee, and various ministries: Men’s, Women’s, Youth, and Children Ministries, and Evangelism. Through the Evangelism ministry many souls were won for the Kingdom of God.
For over 31 years the church has encountered a great number of remarkable leaders, Great Pastors with even greater visions, and have been blessed by the counsel and guidance of visionaries who have impacted the church in immense and immeasurable ways. These privileges have facilitated a remarkable growth and transformation in this congregation that is shared beyond the four walls of its building.
Our mission is to share and teach the Word of God with love and passion for the lost souls, strengthen the elected, and serve the less fortunate people in the surrounding community and abroad.
Our Vision is to create a new community where our brothers and sisters in Christ can serve God in spite of all doctrinal differences, and socio-economic background
Pastor Jonas Hilaire has been Senior Pastor at FHCG since February 2018 and in this short time through the Grace of God and tremendous Sacrifice Pastor Jonas has not only impacted the FHCG Family, but surrounding communities and abroad
